Abstract This study examines the correlation between organizational culture and performance of employee
in service industries in Delta Central, Delta State Nigeria. Descriptive survey design was adopted.
The population comprised 5 hotels selected randomly with a total population of 51 employees and
a sample size of 45 was equally obtained by Taro Yamane’s technique. Questionnaire was the
instrument used for data collection. Data collected were subjected to correlation co-efficient
statistical tool and mean standard deviation analysis. Based on the analysis, the three (3) variables
of organizational culture-people orientation, team orientation and aggressiveness are significant
predictors of employee performance. The co-efficient of the variables are positive and significant
(PO.04<0>0.05). Therefore, the study
concluded that organizational culture has a significant positive effect on employee performance in
service industries (hotels). Based on this, the study recommended that service industries should
generate culture that support teamwork with emphasis on enhanced communication in order to
influence attitude, opinion, beliefs and reduced attitude of self centeredness. Again, since team
orientation has positive correlation with employee performance, management should also pay
attention to recognition and financial rewards for performing team. Service industry management
should also pay attention to team and individual aggressiveness since it has strong positive
relationship with employee performance in service industry.

Abstract The study examined the application of expectancy theory in the State Civil
Service Commission of South-South Nigeria. The objectives of the study are to determine the
relationship between the performance and reward, and if the reward of the staff is based on
the performance. Two hypotheses were tested and research questions also analyzed. Using
random sampling technique, 180 respondents were selected as sample size. 180 copies of
questionnaire were designed and administered for the collection of data and the chi-square
statistical tool used for the analysis. The findings revealed that there is no positive relationship
between performance and reward and that there is no significant difference between the
employee that is well motivated and the demotivated. It was also discovered that the promotion
of staff is based on length of years, zoning formula and passing recommended examination not
performance or input. Based on the above, we recommend that the idea of anchoring promotion
on zoning formula, length of years and passing qualifying examination is deleterious to the
system and should be rejected vehemently, but rather think on reward system that is linked to
effort in order to encourage hard work and enhance effective performance in the States Civil
Service.

Abstract The study aimed at determining the effect of skill acquisition on poultry farming industry in
Delta State. We have a population of 102 from the selected 7 poultry farms in the area under
study which as well comprises employers, employees and casual workers of the selected
farms. Hypotheses were tested with correlation coefficient (r) tool. Sample size was
determined with Taro Yamene formula; hence, 83 sample size was obtained. The instrument
used for data collection was both structured and unstructured questionnaire. Unstructured
instrument was employed for the sake of those that could not read, hence, face-to-face
method of discussion was ideal. Pearson Product Moment (PPM) correlation coefficient (r)
was equally adopted for data analysis. In line with the analysis, it was observed that strong
positive relationship exist between experience of poultry farmers and farming industry, While
indifferent (negative) correlation was revealed between knowledge and farming industry
because a higher value was obtained for the critical value than the calculated value (0.75 >
0.52). The study concluded that experience positively affect poultry farming industry. The
study recommended that farmers should employ or hire experienced poultry farmers for
impartation of more experience through mentoring and tutoring. They are also advised to
seek counsel from professionals for knowledge and skill acquisition to enhance sustainability
in poultry farming industry, exposing them to conferences is equally suggested.

Abstract Cassava farming industry is playing a very significant role in our economy today. The
sustainability of the industry has equally become a thing of great concern by
reasonable number of researchers all over the world and how the industry can have
improved. Study has revealed that reasonable number of farmer has failed because
they fail to carry out proper survey of the business before embarking on it. This study
intends to ascertain whether there is relationship between feasibility study and
cassava farming industry in Delta State with the aim of enhancing productivity. Two
objectives and hypotheses were formulated respectively. A population of 75 farmers
was selected across the state with 3 each from the 25 local governments that make up
the state, and that has not put in less than 5years in the cassava farming industry.
Random sampling was adopted for the selection. Instruments used for data collection
was a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was checked for reliability using
pilot survey method. 60copies of questionnaire were administered and a response rate
of 92% (55) was obtained. The hypotheses were tested using regression method,
Pearson product moment correlation coefficient with the aid of Statistical Package for
Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23. Statistical values of 0.755 and 0.773 for
market/demand survey and environmental survey were obtained respectively at 5%
(0.05) level of significance. Based on the analysis, there was significant relationship
between dependent and independent variables. The study recommended among others
that there should be sensitization and awareness campaign among cassava farmers on
the need for feasibility study exercise before commencement of business operation.

Abstract Some small-sized enterprises business owners lack book-keeping strategies to sustain business growth
overtime. This study evaluated the fundamentals of book-keeping among small-sized enterprises
business owners in South-South Nigeria. The researcher sampled 74 participants across the
geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Structured 10-item book-keeping, SSEs performance and sustainability
rated on 5-point scale Likert was the study’s measuring instrument. The collected data for hypotheses
testing were subjected to correlation coefficient (r) analysis at 0.05 level of significant. Calculated
value 0.96 > 0.87 critical value and calculated value 0.89 > 0.87 critical value were obtained
respectively for SSEs performance and sustainability. The findings revealed that there was no
differentiation between the dependent variable (y) and independent variable (x). In other words, the
performance and sustainability of SSEs in the South-South zone Nigeria is sensitive and dependent
that SMEs should employ professional in the field of book-keeping who will orient them on the
principles and procedures for good and acceptable record keeping. Besides, the notion and concept
that book-keeping is for big organization and multinational companies must be discarded if they want
to remain focused in this time of jet entrepreneurs.

Abstract Effect of information communication on the performance of selected manufacturing firm in
Delta North Senatorial District was the focus. Data was collected through primary and
secondary sources. The population comprised Management and Junior Staff of selected Paint
industry in the area under study. A sample size of 64 was obtained through judgmental random
sampling technique. Face-to-face discussion method was the instrument for data collection.
This instrument was adopted in order to get the true opinion of the respondents on the subject
matter. The returned data was subjected to chi-square analysis. It was observed that effective
communication has positive significant effect on the performance of paint manufacturing
industry in Delta North Senatorial District because calculated value of 63.54 was obtained
compared to the critical value of 5.99. The study concluded that effective communication will
certainly improve productivity in paint industry thereby inducing growth in the economy. The
study recommended among others that information overload should be avoided in order to
achieve effective communication that produces useful results among workers/employees.
Organizational structure and leadership style that does not support effective communication
system should be re-designed. Policy that encourages continuous use of effective information
communication methods among paint industry owners is also suggested.

Abstract The purpose of the study was to ascertain if there is a significant relationship
between performance appraisal and employee commitment and also to
differentiate if performance appraisal significantly influences organizational
sustainability. The population comprises 69 respondents from the selected 10
transport service company workers in Edo and Delta State. The hypotheses
were formulated and tested using t-test tool. An unstructured questionnaire was
used (direct interview) for the 50 respondents sampled out by using a random
sampling technique. Based on the results of the analysis, it was revealed that an
insignificant relationship exists between employment commitment,
organizational sustainability and performance appraisal. In order words, there
is no significant positive relationship between the dependent and independent
variables. It also suggests that a higher critical value of 2.447 was obtained
compared to the calculated values of 0.20 and 0.53 of the two hypotheses tested
respectively. The study recommended that the service industry should imbibe
the culture of performance appraisal exercises to strengthen employee
commitment. Again, managers and directors of service companies should be
fair in their performance appraisal exercise (PAE) without fear or favour in
order to enhance sustainability in the transport industry.

Abstract This paper focused on creativity as a predictor of entrepreneurship orientation among
indigenous entrepreneurs in South-South Nigeria. The research design for this study is the
survey research design. The population of the study covered 240 indigenous entrepreneurs
selected across the six states of south-south region of Nigeria. The researcher however used
the Taro Yamene method to determine the sample size; hence 183 indigenous entrepreneurs
were selected from the population. The data used in this study was generated from two major
sources namely; primary sources and secondary sources. The major instrument for data
collection was a five point likert scale questionnaire titled creativity and entrepreneurship
orientation questionnaire (C and EOQ). A reliability index of 0.95 (95%) was obtained which
shows that the instrument of the study is highly reliable. The statistical tool used for data
analysis in this study is t-test using the 20.0 version of statistical package for social sciences
(SPSS) and the following results were obtained for hypotheses one, two and three respectively
(0.05>0.001, 0.05>0.000 and 0.013<0.05).The study concludes that the entrepreneurship
orientation of indigenous entrepreneurs in south-south Nigeria can be understudied through a
cursory and closer study of their creativity. Sequel to this conclusion, this paper recommends
that government agencies both at the federal and state and all other entrepreneurship
stakeholders should help in the development of the skills of the indigenes especially during
early education stages. This will help government effectively map the creative capacities of her
indigenes with the intent of providing entrepreneurship development programmes that are
consistent with their creative capabilities.

Abstract The study examined the effect of organizational climate on employee performance in selected
manufacturing firms in Delta state, Nigeria. The population consists of manufacturing firms
registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and that have put in about three
years in the manufacturing industries. The study randomly picked 15 manufacturing firms in
the state and purposive sampling technique was equally adopted to get a sample size of 81
respondents .The questionnaire was administered and promptly responded to by the
respondents.77 copies (95%) were returned and Pearson correlation and simple linear
regression technique were employed for data analysis and hypothesis testing at 5% level of
significance. It was observed that Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.998 and 0.885 were
obtained for leadership and job satisfaction respectively (high positive correlation with
performance).Conversely, correlation coefficient of 0.547 was equally obtained for
communication variable, indicating low significant relationship with performance. Based, on
the analysis, the results showed significant positive relationship between leadership, job
satisfaction and performance. On the contrary, there is no significant relationship between
communication and performance. Therefore, the study conclusively infers that leadership and
job satisfaction influences performance in manufacturing firms, and that communication is
negatively influenced in manufacturing industries. The study therefore recommends that
transparent leadership that enhances workers participation and contribution in decision
making should be encouraged.
