Abstract This study examines the influence of cultural environment on the performance of business managers of multinational firms in confectionery industry in Nigeria. Survey method was adopted for the study. Ten multinational corporations that have subsidiary business units in the major cities in Nigeria were selected for the study. Structured questionnaire on five point Likert Scale was used to obtain data from the business/general managers, functional managers and operative managers of the selected companies and analyze using SPSS to run Pearson correlation. It was found out that religious beliefs and cultural values have strong influence on the performance of managers; that managers’ sensitivity to the culture in a host country and intercultural alignment enhance their performance as well as the financial, product-market, shareholders’ returns and overall effectiveness performance of the firms. The study therefore recommends among others that multinational firms in confectionary industry interested in internationalization as a result of availability of large market should first consider the predominant culture of the host countries that revolve around their business activities during the proposal stage of their strategic business units (SBUs). Also, wide effort is required by the business managers to develop polycentric and geocentric orientations for intercultural alignment and management of cross-cultural opportunities, risks, threats and challenges that are inherent in the cultural environment of business in the host countries.

Abstract Entrepreneurship is essential in today’s economy. It is a world-wide activity that involves creativity and innovation leading to new and innovative business start-ups that are interconnected with employment generation, economic growth and global development. The intense pressure on the world economy creates an urgent need to intensify research efforts towards entrepreneurship development for continuous value creation, value addition and value offering. Researching on the subject of reconceptualization of entrepreneurship and value addition is a key driver in reengineering of entrepreneurship, promoting and directing the future of entrepreneurship around the world. This study is premised on these scenarios. The study is a theoretical research with basic components of conceptual framework that provided the structure of narrative and meta-synthesis review of literature in analysis of the phenomenon of the study and theoretical exposition that supported the research. The study deals with the expository review of literature on epistemology and ontology of entrepreneurship, reconceptualization and value addition. It adopted qualitative phenomenological research design that gave in-depth insights of the phenomenon under investigation and offers direction for further research. The result of the study revealed that reconceptualization of entrepreneurship is a significant impact factor in estimation of entrepreneurial value addition. The study therefore recommends that entrepreneurship stakeholders should lend credence to paradigm shift in theoretical and practical knowledge of entrepreneurship to harness and maximize the benefits and values of entrepreneurial operations and activities. Research and development are also encouraged to direct the future course of entrepreneurship.

Abstract Many developing economies around the world are faced with the challenges of environmental degradation. The risk associated with this scenario is high and it has continued to attract unprecedented research attention from scholars and researchers. Arising from this, this study examined the psychographic influence of green entrepreneurial marketing on environmental degradation control. This study was conducted at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria. It adopted survey design where probability sampling technique was used to draw sample size of 384 respondents from the population of adult consumers in the study area. Questionnaire instrument was employed to generate data from the respondents. The data were analysed with the statistical tool of Pearson’s correlation matrix at 0.01 significance level and alpha value of ? 0.05. The results of the study proved significant with the coefficient values of 0.902 for environmental concern and environmental degradation control, 0.914 for environmental knowledge and environmental degradation control and 0.620 for altruism and environmental degradation control in the test results of hypotheses 1, 2 and 3 at corresponding alpha values of 0.036 ? 0.05, 0.022 ? 0.05 and 0.004 ? 0.05. These analysis results showed very strong positive linear relationship between the predictor and response variables in hypotheses 1 and 2 and strong positive linear correlation between the predictor and response variables in hypothesis 3. The study therefore recommends that firms, customers, consumers, non-governmental agencies, policy makers, government and every other stakeholder should be environmentally conscious and committed to environmental friendliness for environmental sustainability. Government and firms should intensify efforts to create intense environmental awareness and knowledge in televisions, radios, public places and through social media channels to reach to wide audience on green practices, as well as sensitizing the people on the need for green products, green production and green consumption to maintain a healthy life environment. Environmental stakeholders should exhibit altruistic behaviour to promote pro-environmental behaviour and environmental welfare of others for sustainable environment. Government’s support and commitment for environmental friendliness and sustainability through its policies and laws is a necessary option to enhance environmental consciousness, knowledge and altruistic behaviour.
